Rules of the game

How is Loto played?

A line consists of 5 numbers from 1 to 49 and one lucky number (numéro Chance) from 1 to 10. Draws take place every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday evening. You win with at least 2 matches, or with the lucky number alone (tier 9: 0 or 1 match + lucky number, stake refunded).

How much does a line cost?

A single line costs €2.20.

Who can play?

Loto is operated by the Française des Jeux in France; players must follow French rules.

Winning

What are the odds of winning?

The chance of tier 1 (5 matches + lucky number) is 1 in 19,068,840; the chance of winning any of the 9 tiers is about 1 in 6. All tiers with their exact probability are listed on the Prizes page.

How does the jackpot grow?

The jackpot starts at €2 million and grows with each draw without a tier-1 winner. The FDJ data gives the amount at stake in every draw.

Can I choose the lucky number?

Yes – unlike the Superzahl in LOTTO 6aus49 it is marked on the slip and drawn from its own 10 balls.

This website

Where do the numbers come from?

From the official FDJ history files (fdj.fr). The data covers 1087 draws from 06.11.2019 to 14.10.2026.

Do statistics help you win?

No. Every draw is independent of the previous ones and every combination is equally likely. Statistics only describe the past.
